Jakonçiç Winery

Updated: Sep 28, 2020

Two weeks ago I met Aloša Jakonçiç at the Modri Pinot festival. He spoke with passion about what they do why they make great Pinot noir (and other wines). Yesterday I decided to visit him and his brother Mitja at the Winery in Kozana.

Mitja studied oenology in Ljubljana and took the time to answer all my questions. In their beautiful winery we tasted everything. Amazing wines (of which I later brought quite some bottles to my car...)

Most amazed I was by their UVAIA, Pinot Gris, macerated for 4-6 days in wooden, egg shaped barels. This is really something special.

White macerated wines have always been made in this region but are now gaining interest in the world (read the Amber revolution by Simon Woolf).

These brothers do well. Thanks guys, hope to see you again soon!
